Nutella Puff Pastry

These easy heart shaped Nutella Puff Pastries are perfect for your Valentine’s Day breakfast, brunch, or dessert!

Making puff pastry is QUITE a process. To keep it hassle free I just buy readymade ones which makes it so simple and easy.

After trying some savory recipes with puff pastry I was really eager to try something sweet…and what’s better than a Nutella filling. So gave this a try a couple of days ago and here I am with this new recipe!!!!

Also, with Valentines coming during the week and not much of time on hand these can be great goodies for your family.

The recipe really couldn’t be easier once you’ve got a block of puff pastry in front of you. Simply roll, cut out hearts, dollop some Nutella. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle some coarse sugar and just bake! Definitely best eaten warm, but let cool a little as that Nutella will be hot!

These puff pastry hearts are only two inches wide so makes up two or three for each person. As with most desserts using puff pastry, these are best served the day they are made.

Ingredients for Nutella Puff Pastry Hearts:

  • Puff Pastry Sheet: one sheet of store-bought puff pastry will make a total of approximately 16 heart-shaped puff pastry (depending on the size of the mould) . Defrost the pastry in the refrigerator and not at room temperature if using a frozen sheet as it will get difficult to work with the dough.
  • Nutella Spread: easily available in stores. You can substitute Nutella with any other chocolate spread or jam.
  • 1 egg: the puff pastry should be brushed with a lightly whipped egg just before baking (this gives a glossy look to it). Vegetarians can substitute this with milk.
  • Granulated Sugar: sprinkled with sugar prior to baking. This is totally optional. Just makes it look pretty!

Do give this a try this Valentine and surprise your loved ones.
