Crispy Lotus Stem in Honey Chilli Sauce, is a delicious starter made with air fried lotus stem in sweet and spicy sauce.
This is a perfect make ahead appetizer. Just make sure to keep the air fried lotus stem and the prepared sauce separately. Toss both together just before serving.

Crispy Honey Chilli Lotus Stem

Ingredients
200 gms lotus stem
1 tbsp corn flour
Salt to taste
Warm salt water to soak the lotus stem
- For the sauce
2 tbsp minced garlic
1 tsp clilli flakes
1 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tbsp siracha/red chilli sauce
1 tbsp honey
Directions
- Peel and cut the lotus stem into thin slices and soak them in warm salted water for 15 minutes.
- Drain the water and spread onto a kitchen towel and pat dry gently, making sure not to break them.
- Combine corn flour, salt and toss gently
- Transfer in batches into a preheated air fryer basket spray some oil and air fry for 10 minutes at 190 degree. Shake the basket in interval for even cooking.
- Once done keep this aside.
- For the sauce
- Heat some oil in a pan (make sure to keep the flame on low) and roast minced garlic till light brown.
- Then add in chilli flakes, tomato ketchup, tamari/soya sauce, siracha/red chilli sauce, honey and mix well ( You can turn off the flame when adding the sauces just to make sure not to burn them)
- Gradually add in the crispy lotus stem and mix well to coat.

- This recipe can be made ahead. Just make sure to keep the air fried lotus stem and the sauce separate and, toss them together just before serving.
- The ingredients for the sauce can be adjusted according to your taste.
