Ingredients
- For Grinding:
1 tsp pepper
½ tsp cumin/jeera
10 shallots/small onions
7 garlic cloves
1 inch ginger
1/4th cup coriander leaves
Few tender coriander stems
1/4th cup water
- For Cooking
2 tsp ghee
1 onion, finely chopped
300 grms chicken, with bones
½ inch cinnamon
1 green cardamom
2 cloves
1/4th tsp turmeric
½ lemon juice
2 ½ cups warm water
Directions
- Blend together pepper, cumin, ginger, garlic, onion, coriander leaves and tender coriander stems along with some water to a fine paste.
- In a cooker heat some ghee and sauté onions until it changes color slightly.
- Then add the chicken and sauté till the chicken turns whitish.
- Add in the ground masala, the masala water from the blender (about ½ a cup water), turmeric and sauté for 2 minutes
- Add enough of warm water, some lime juice, salt to taste and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Cover and cook in pressure cooker for 4 whistles. Turn off the heat and let the pressure release naturally.
- Garnish with coriander, lime slices and serve hot.
