Fusion desserts are the perfect way to surprise your guests this Diwali..Burfi Truffle is my take on the traditional Indian Barfi. It is quick, super easy to make and is hassle free.
These delicious little delights are a perfect Diwali gift!!!
There are some Indian sweets that are quintessential during these festivals such as burfies, ladoos and gulab jamuns. But if you wish to be different and want to serve a unique sweet this time, I’ve got you covered. Here is a regular truffle with an Indian twist.
This recipe is made with very basic ingredients which is easily available in the market. However, when it comes to the chocolate avoid using regular chocolate as it needs to be tempered instead use compound or couverture chocolate just to keep it hassle free.
Tempering chocolate is nothing but a method of heating and cooling the chocolate so they do not melt on your fingers as you hold them.
You can see this simplest dessert turn into a real crowd pleaser in no time! You can get creative and top these truffles with your own kind of decorations.

minutesIndian burfi dipped in chocolate! Garnished with nuts, rose petals and edible silver leaves.
Ingredients
3 tbsp soft butter
¼ cup milk
1 cup milk powder
½ cup powdered sugar
½ tsp cardamom powder
3/4th cup white/dark chocolate (check notes)
nuts of your choice for decorating
Directions
- Into a heated pan add butter and milk. Let the milk and butter combine.
3 - Add the milk powder and mix it well on low heat for about a minute.
- Then add the sugar, cardamom powder and mix all together till you have a smooth mixture.
- Cook this on low heat for about 5-6 minutes till it leaves the side and you able to roll into a non-stick ball.
- Once this is done transfer into a bowl, cover with a cling wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes remove the dough from the refrigerator and make small balls of each weighing 20gms. I just do this to make sure all the truffles are of the equal size.
- Now melt the chocolate in a double boil method or a microwave.
- Time to make the truffles!!!!! Take the burfi balls one by one and dip it in the chocolate and with the help of a fork roll the burfi balls in chocolate so the entire thing is covered with the chocolate, shake off the excess and place it on a parchment or butter paper.
- Garnish this with your desired nuts. You can get really creative here!
Notes
- When it comes to the chocolate use compound or coverture chocolate which is easily available in the market. Regular chocolate may melt at room temperature.
- Do not ever cook the dough as it can tend to get chewy, so keep checking for a non-stick smooth ball. Remove as soon as it gets to this consistency.
- In this recipe I have used white chocolate, however you can use dark or milk chocolate as well.
